Italy, 1993: I had a vision while visiting a charming Italian pensione in Fiesole, an ancient Etruscan settlement located in the hills above Florence. Each morning, the guests gathered on the rose-covered stone terrace and savored perfectly prepared cappuccinos, while church bells rang in the distance. The fellowship, the glorious espresso, the otherwordly atmosphere...
It was nirvana.
I rushed home from Italy, ditched my boring accounting job, and six months later opened my first cafe in Greenville, Delaware. My inspiration was to create a gathering place where friends could meet up and customers recognized -- a part of our past that I felt had been lost with the onslaught of the sanitized fast food chains and over-commercialized coffee bars.
Wilmington, DE, 2011: Brew Ha Ha's nine cafes dot the Brandywine Valley, offering customers a boutique coffee experience where every drink is special and attention is paid every step of the way. Each cafe is situated in a distinct neighborhood within Northern Delaware and has its own look and feel. We delight in being a First State business and in being named Best of Delaware 17 years in a row!
